The 2013 walk
The Rotary Club of Werribee and friends will be embarking upon their 4th 200km Charity Walk in 2013 in aid of the Victorian Palliative Care Program at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne.
Over nine days from Friday 11 October to Saturday 19 October 2013 the walkers will be taking on the North East Region of Victoria.
Each walker is responsible for their own accommodation cost and any personal expenses. Walkers are also required to raise a minimum of $100 in sponsorship for each day walked, or if walking the full 9 days are challenged to raise $1000. Palliative care at the RCH
Despite major advances in prevention and cures for serious conditions, sadly, there remains a group of children for which cure is not possible. The Victorian Paediatric Palliative Care Program (VPPCP) at The Royal Children’s Hospital comprises a team responsible for the facilitation of care of children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses and their families.
Most people don't realise that these children are usually cared for at home by their families, with support and guidance from VPPCP staff. Families may need equipment, nursing assistance, support for siblings and counselling on this most difficult of journeys.
